Agenda Europe 2035
“A smart solution is more than the sum of its parts: Efficient and secure digitalization starts with a holistic view.” A lecture held by Thomas Petrik.
On November 18, 2024, we were part of this year's Agenda Europe 2035 conference, which took place under the motto “Challenges and trends of digitalization and ICT for a secure and competitive future in Europe” at the virtual Vienna City Hall. Thomas Petrik, Managing Director & Head of Technology Consulting at Sphinx, shared interesting perspectives in his online presentation “A smart solution is more than the sum of its parts: Efficient and secure digitalization starts with a holistic view” with the online audience.
Keep it simple - according to this simple philosophy, a smart infrastructure can be realized with maximum fulfillment and minimum complexity. How such successful digitalization can be implemented in practice was illustrated using three specific example scenarios from customer projects:
- DWH / Analytics Stack: As a “best of service” option, the fully integrated solution tech stack RED (Rapid Exploratory Data Analysis) from Sphinx, Exasol and MicroStrategy combines many different BI components in a single solution.
- Renewal of the ERP system of an SME: The further development of an ERP system towards a macroservices architecture reduces the complexity of processes - specialized systems require less tuning and lead to a massive reduction in code. The migration of the new ERP system is also significantly cheaper.
- Replacing VMware: In view of the massive increase in VMware license costs, many companies are facing problems. In the course of a changeover, it is advisable not only to replace the hypervisor, but to think holistically. Our BlueBoxx solution offers an open, cost-transparent and highly secure alternative without vendor lock-in in the form of an “open infrastructure”.
